Maria Gouveia Pereira
Maria Gouveia-Pereira has a bachelor is degree in Clinical Psychology from Ispa, University Institute, Lisbon, in 1990. She completed her Ph.D. in Psychology at ISCTE - University Institute, Lisbon, and the University of Bologna, Italy. She is an Associate Professor with Aggregation at Ispa - University Institute and an Integrated Research Member at the Applied Psychology Research Center Capabilities & Inclusion (APPsyCI). Since 2023 he has been Coordinator of the Clinical Psychology and Health Disciplinary Area. From 2019 to 2024, she served as Co-Director of the Master is in Forensic Psychology. She has been the Director of two Postgraduate courses: Forensic Psychology and Criminal Psychology since 2019. From 2015 to 2019, she was the Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Psychocriminology. She has been a Member of the Scientific Council since 2013 and a Member of the Permanent Committee of the Scientific Council since 2020. From 2012 to 2018, she was a Member of the Executive Committee of the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology. In 2012, she founded the first Board of the University Clinic of Ispa - University Institute, a position she held until 2016. Throughout her teaching career, she has always been the Coordinator of Curricular Units, and in recent years, she has been the Coordinator of four Curricular Units: Models in Clinical Psychology, Family Dysfunctionalities and Risk Behaviors in Adolescence; Family and Couples Psychotherapy and Child and Adolescent Psychopathology. She is the author of four books, seven book chapters, and has published 54 articles. She has supervised 4 completed doctoral theses and 2 doctoral theses in progress (to be completed in 2024). She has supervised 138 master's theses and various curricular and professional internships. She conducts research in the fields of Risk Behaviors in Adolescence, focusing on deliberate self-harm and suicidal behaviors. She is also interested in family dynamics and their implications in different aspects. In addition to her teaching and research activities, she is a Supervisor and Trainer at the Portuguese Society of Family Therapy.
