David Rodrigues

Dr. David L. Rodrigues is an accomplished researcher in social and organizational psychology, with a focus on human sexuality, relationships, and health behaviors. He earned his Licenciatura in Applied Psychology from Instituto Superior de Psicologia Aplicada in 2004 and completed his Ph.D. in Social and Organizational Psychology at Iscte-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa in 2010. In 2023, he achieved Habilitation in Psychology from the same institution. Dr. Rodrigues has held various research positions, including Auxiliary Researcher funded by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia since 2021 and currently holds a permanent Research position at Iscte-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa's Centro de Investigação e Intervenção Social (CIS-Iscte). His prolific academic output includes >80 journal articles and contributions to eight book sections. Throughout his career, Dr. Rodrigues has led and participated in numerous research projects. For example, he served as Principal Investigator for the "PREVENT: Prevention Motives in Sexuality Can Help Increase Consistent Condom Use and Improve Sexual Health" project, funded by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (CEEC) and for the "Prevent2Protect: Motivational Determinants of Consistent Condom Use" project, funded by "la Caixa" Foundation. In addition to his research endeavors, Dr. Rodrigues is dedicated to academia through teaching and supervision. He has supervised multiple master's theses on topics such as condom negotiation strategies, dehumanization of gender non-conforming individuals, and the relationship between regulatory focus and sexual behavior. His teaching portfolio includes courses on advanced research methodologies, psychometrics, and social psychology at Iscte-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa. Dr. Rodrigues's extensive experience in research, project leadership, and academic mentorship positions him as a valuable contributor to initiatives aimed at enhancing sexual health education and promoting wellbeing.
