Dalila Cerejo

Dalila Cerejo holds a PhD in Sociology and is a researcher at CICS.NOVA and at the National Observatory on Violence and Gender of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the New University of Lisbon. She is also an Assistant Professor at the same faculty and a researcher at the Interdisciplinary Center for Social Sciences (CICSNOVA) where she is also the Sub-director and coordinates the Research Group on Inequalities and Public Action (congregates the area of gender studies and gender-based violence). Her latest investigation was based on her post-doctoral research, funded by the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, about abusers of conjugal violence and those convicted of the crime of domestic violence a project that has as main objective the analysis and deconstruction of the emotional context of aggressors convicted of the crime of domestic violence and their victims, using quantitative and qualitative methodologies based on specific methodological models of victimization and aggression. In the last 17 years, her professional career has been marked by research in the area of gender violence in Portugal. She has participated in more than 20 research projects of national and international relevance, which resulted in technical and scientific outputs that have contributed to the design of public policies to combat gender violence and domestic violence in Portugal. She is also part of the board of the Portuguese Sociological Association (APS). She is the author of several scientific articles, books and book chapters on the themes of gender violence (victims and aggressors), Emotional Expression Indicators and complex social action theories.
